Yarra One to redefine retirement living by offering convenience and lifestyle in the heart of South Yarra

Yarra One, a Fender Katsalidis-designed apartment tower in Melbourne’s most desirable suburb in South Yarra, is proving to be a popular choice for Baby Boomers and semi-retired downsizers who are looking for a low maintenance yet vibrant lifestyle.

Following strong interest from individuals age 55 and over who are eager to capitalise on the lifestyle amenities available, Yarra One has taken low-maintenance to a whole new level by introducing Lifestyle One; an Australian first apartment concierge service tailored to retirees and semi-retired individuals.

Partnering with a not-for-profit provider, the service aims to enrich resident’s lifestyles, giving them access to a range of services including home maintenance, home cleaning, dry cleaning, massage, pet walking and personal care.

EcoWorld International General Manager Jeffrey Ong said there’s currently a gap in the market for developers to truly cater to individuals looking for a vibrant lifestyle, particularly those who have worked hard for most of their life.

“Lifestyle requirements are constantly evolving; we’re living longer, we’re healthier and we’ve worked hard throughout our career and now want to live an active low-maintenance lifestyle, one that isn’t tied down by house chores.

“With an ever-increasing expectation of what defines ‘luxury living’, there is a need in the market for apartments that provide the amenities and services of retirement living but instead, are located in the epicentre of activities such as South Yarra,” he said.

Research reveals the most common reason individuals retire is due to financial security, with many pre-retirees wanting to be able to maintain their standard of living, enjoy a few treats and not have to worry about money.

The most reported ‘treat’ is travelling, with apartments offering a lock-up-and-leave lifestyle.

“People often associate apartment living with a compromised lifestyle, but our vision is to provide residents both convenience and lifestyle under one roof; it is retirement living, redefined,” said Jeffrey.

Designing in line with Livable Housing Australia’s Gold-Star standard, the project will offer adaptable floor plans as another method of future-proofing the building, allowing the layout to conform to what the resident needs both now and into the future.

Fender Katsalidis co-founder Karl Fender is a strong believer in the initiative, saying the ‘third chapter’ is an important part of anyone’s life, and a chance to re-evaluate your priorities.

“You’ve worked hard throughout your life to become successful and the third chapter is how you spend that rich part of your life, where you have achieved and now get to look after yourself first and foremost.

“The adaptable floor plan offering is about tailoring specific living requirements, patterns and habits into a liveable design right in Melbourne’s popular Yarra River corridor,” said Karl.

Situated in the heart of South Yarra, Yarra One offers multi-generational living through a host of onsite amenities and partnerships targeted at first home-buyers, downsizers, young families, retirees and empty nesters.

The 26-level tower will encompass 251 one, two and three-bedroom apartments as well as four-bedroom penthouses. Residents will have access to a wellness precinct, equipped with a gymnasium, outdoor spa, dance studio and yoga room, as well as dining and entertainment facilities.

Not to be forgotten is the first of its kind residential coworking space situated across three floors of The Atrium, providing an integrated hub and an open workplace concept for all residents, particularly semi-retirees and freelancers.

Construction has commenced on Yarra One, with completion scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2020.

The Yarra One display suite is located at 11 Claremont Street, South Yarra and is open daily from 10am to 4pm.
